GP Vaccination Hubs are providing assistance to vulnerable individuals to get easier access to Covid-19 Vaccinations in their local areas.
These Hubs have a goal to expand accessibility to COVID-19 vaccines throughout the SEMPHN region, particularly for vulnerable groups who may encounter challenges in reaching vaccination sites.
The GP Vaccination Hubs aim to increase access to COVID-19 vaccines across the SEMPHN catchment for vulnerable populations including:
- those who are experiencing homelessness, including those living on the streets, in emergency accommodation, boarding houses or between temporary shelters;
- those who do not have a Medicare card or are not eligible for Medicare;
- people with a disability or who are frail and cannot leave home (homebound individuals);
- First Nations Peoples;
- culturally, ethnically and linguistically diverse people, especially asylum seekers and refugees and those in older age groups who may find it difficult to use other vaccination services;
- children aged 5-11 who have complex needs, who are not captured by another suitable vaccination channel, and
- any other vulnerable groups identified as requiring dedicated support to access vaccinations.
GP Vaccination Hubs will be undertaking a range of activities and may include;
- Pop-up clinics.
- Promotion and Education sessions to local groups.
- Accepting referrals from partner organisations for people who may require additional support to receive a COVID vaccine.
- Emphasis on after-hours and weekend vaccination sessions.
- Low Sensory Vaccination Clinics and spaces to support people with sensory processing issues.
