SEMPHN welcomes three new Clinical and Community Council members

July 2, 2024

We are pleased to welcome three new Clinical and Community Council (CCC) members who will contribute their expertise and experience, alongside our eight existing members, to help SEMPHN better meet the healthcare needs of communities in south east Melbourne.

Andrea Edwards is a proud Gunditjmara woman with over 30 years’ experience in nursing. For the past 15 years she has been a practice nurse at Prahran Market Clinic which specialises in sexual, LGBTIQA+ and HIV health.

Kate Coomber is a family worker in the Psychological Trauma Service, Alfred Mental and Addiction Health. Passionate about health ownership for CALD communities, First Nations, and aging populations, Kate advocates for effective and equitable healthcare communication and digital health rights.

Jawid Sayed oversees programs including the Refugee Settlement Program (SETS) and Asylum Seeker Support Program. Jawid has more than fifteen years’ diverse experience of working in the health & not-for-profits sectors in Australia and overseas in many areas, including community development, health promotion, monitoring and evaluation, international development and refugee settlement programs.

The CCC plays an essential role in advancing SEMPHN’s efforts to strengthen primary health care and connect services across the healthcare system. Chaired by Board Member Tony Clarkson and comprising 11 representatives from across community, primary and acute health services, their role includes providing clinical advice and guidance on matters relating to safe and high-quality planning, implementation and ongoing evaluation of SEMPHN services or programs.

We look forward to their clinical insights and community perspectives guiding a more equitable, person-centred and seamless health system so that people in south east Melbourne can live their healthiest lives.
