Now recruiting: Pakenham Secondary College

January 25, 2023

If your practice, (or a GP and/or practice nurse in your practice) have a strong adolescent and mental health focus and want to change up your daily routine to work with school kids – this is the role for you!

We are seeking expressions of interest for a general practice to deliver youth-friendly health services to students at Pakenham Secondary College.

  • General Practitioner (4 hours a week)
  • General Practice Nurse (up to a day each week)

Benefits

There’s heaps of reasons to get involved. By being a part of the Doctors in Secondary Schools (DiSS) program, you, your practice and clinicians can help give kids the healthcare they need, where and when they need it. Participants tell us they feel ‘fulfilled’ and ‘rewarded.’ Here’s just a few reasons you should take part:

Nurses and doctors

  • Do something different one day out of your week.
  • Make a difference in a young person’s life.
  • Put your expertise in mental health and youth to good use.
  • Extend your experience in a school setting.

Practice managers and owners

  • Increase your practice community presence.
  • Establish positive relationships and partnership with the community.
  • Build trust with local young people and provide early intervention.
  • Offer a ‘different’ work experience for your GP and Nurse to add variety.
  • Give your clinicians the opportunity to use their skills and experience in working with adolescents.

Closing soon

Register your contact details to express your interest in the program. Applications close 5pm Sunday 19 February 2023.
NOTE: Please select ‘SEMPHN’ from the PHN list and ‘Pakenham Secondary College’ from the schools list.
